Alloy Used In Aircraft

The most common aluminum alloy used in aircraft are 2024 and 7075, others are 7050, 6061, 6082 and so on. 2024 and 7075 aluminum alloys are Al-Cu-Mg series hard aluminum alloys, which can be strengthened by heat treatment. The properties of the alloys vary significantly according to different heat treatment states. After solution treatment, the natural aging state has higher tensile strength and Tough, artificially aged with high yield strength and corrosion resistance. Its comprehensive mechanical properties and high temperature creep resistance are excellent. It has a small tendency to soften at high temperature, and can be used for pressure processing and mechanical processing of heated parts alloys. The product type include sheet, strip, plate and pipe aluminum products.

2024 alloy used in aircraft is one of the most widely used aluminum alloys in the aviation and machinery industries at home and abroad. The plates and profiles of this alloy have been successfully used in aircraft structural parts, such as skins, wing spars, etc., as well as truck wheel rims, screw mechanism products, hardware and other various structural parts. For the thin plates used in the natural state, aluminum-clad plates should be used for parts with strict corrosion resistance requirements, and parts that require long-term precise coordination at high temperatures should be stabilized before use.

7075 aluminum alloy is Al-Zn-Mg-Cu series high-strength hard aluminum alloy, which can be strengthened by heat treatment. The static strength of the alloy is higher than that of 2024 aircraft grade aluminum alloy, and the fatigue strength is similar to that of 2024. It has good room temperature formability in the state of annealing or solution heat treatment, and can be processed into various types of products. .

7075 alloy used in aircraft is a high-strength super-duralumin that is widely used at home and abroad. It is the main material of aircraft structural parts and is suitable for the manufacture of aircraft skins, wing spars, bulkheads, landing gear components, and hydraulic system components. Also used in other highly stressed structural components requiring high strength and good corrosion resistance. The commonly used heat treatment states of 7075 alloy are T6, T73, T76. The strength of the T6 state is high, but the fracture toughness is low, and it is more sensitive to stress corrosion. Careful consideration should be given to the use conditions of continuous stress in the transverse direction. T73, although the strength of the T73 state is low, it has quite high fracture toughness and excellent resistance to stress corrosion and delamination corrosion. The overall performance of the T76 state is better, its strength is higher than that of the T73 state, and the stress corrosion resistance is better than the T6 state. Generally, the appropriate state should be selected according to the usage conditions.
